Multimodal strategy for improving hand hygiene: compliance and impact factors

RESUMO

Objetivo: analisar as produções científicas sobre as indicações de higienização das mãos frente às oportunidades e comparar com o proposto pela estratégia multimodal da OMS. Metodologia: revisão integrativa que analisou 15 artigos de língua portuguesa publicados no período de 2007 a 2013. As bases de dados pesquisadas foram: LILACS e MEDLINE. Resultados: a maior adesão ocorreu após contato e procedimentos, indicando o profissional se preocupa com o risco de transmissão de microrganismos em detrimento de ações de promoção da segurança do paciente. A baixa adesão dos profissionais a HM envolve desde a existência de infraestrutura adequada e sistematicamente abastecida, bem como a satisfação das necessidades e interesses no ambiente de trabalho, educação permanente sobre o tema e envolvimento da liderança no processo motivacional da adesão. Conclusão: a estratégia Multimodal é o método mais confiável para oferecer melhorias da HM em longo prazo em todas as unidades de saúde. ABSTRACT

Objective: to analyze the scientific production about the indications for hand hygiene opportunities ahead and compare with the multimodal strategy proposed by the WHO. Methods: an integrative review that analyzed 15 articles from English- language published between 2007-2013 The searched databases were. LILACS and MEDLINE. Results: the highest number occurred after contact and procedures, professional indicating worries about the risk of transmission of microorganisms rather than actions to promote patient safety. The low uptake of professionals from HM involves the existence of adequate infrastructure and systematically stocked as well as the satisfaction of needs and interests in the workplace, continuing education on the topic of leadership and involvement in the motivational process of accession. Conclusion: the Multimodal strategy is to offer reliable method of HM improvements in long-term in all health facilities.
